Project Development Manager (UK)
Do you have a background in engineering with a blend of solar expertise and a strategic commercial outlook? Do you have experience guiding PV projects through the development phase? Are you ready to drive the solar expansion in the UK with one of Europe's largest solar IPPs?
Fantastic, welcome to Alight! We're an entrepreneurial scale-up driven by a strong purpose: to kick carbon off the grid by helping businesses save money with solar from day 1.
As our Project Development Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the expansion of our Behind-the-Meter (BtM) projects in the UK, where we currently boast a pipeline of 150MW.
Your impact
In close collaboration with our Business Development Director UK&I, you'll lead the charge in advancing Alight's expansion of Behind-the-Meter (BtM) projects across the UK. As Project Manager, you'll oversee Alight’s rooftop and ground-mounted BtM projects, spanning from 1MW to 50MW+, steering them through the development and construction stages, and guiding them from initial site feasibility all the way to commissioning.
In this role, you can work fully remotely from anywhere in the UK! We have a small office space in London from which you can also work onsite/hybrid remote
KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement & Construction - from FID to Commercial Operation Date (COD)
- Maintain oversight of project budget and cash flow, ensuring timely updates to reflect construction and financial activities accurately.
- Lead the procurement process, including drafting RFP and EPC documents/contracts, assessing quotes from EPCs, negotiating terms, and coordinating across teams to ensure proper execution of RFP documentation and proposal reviews.
- Conduct regular site visits pre-, during, and post-construction to uphold overall work quality and onsite HSE standards.
- Ensure project quality aligns with Alight's technical requirements, HSE, and ESG standards, through meticulous documentation and validation of works and milestones.
- Review and approve documents integral to the commissioning process, coordinating with relevant teams as necessary for seamless handover to Asset Management.
- Oversee project progression from FID to COD, facilitating the smooth transition and handover to the Asset Management team.
