Senior Grid Manager
At Alight, we’re on a mission to kick carbon off the grid by helping large businesses transition to solar energy. As we continue expanding across the Nordics — including utility-scale solar, BESS, Energy Hubs, and powered land initiatives — grid strategy is becoming one of the most critical enablers of our growth.
We’re now looking for a Senior Grid Manager to own and shape Alight’s Nordic-wide grid strategy and help ensure our development pipeline is built around what is actually grid-realistic.
This is a highly strategic role sitting within the Development team, where you will act as the senior grid voice across the business — guiding origination, portfolio decisions, partner selection, and cross-functional initiatives related to grid capacity, congestion, and connection strategy.
Your impact
What you’ll do
Shape Alight’s Nordic grid strategy
Develop and continuously evolve Alight’s grid strategy across the Nordic markets
Translate country-specific grid realities, congestion, reinforcement plans, regulations, and connection processes into actionable guidance for Development and Origination teams
Advise on which project concepts (solar, solar+BESS, Energy Hubs, powered land, co-location with wind) are most viable depending on local grid conditions
Support portfolio steering and investment decisions from a grid feasibility perspective
Act as Alight’s senior grid counterpart
Lead senior-level relationships with TSOs, DSOs, and relevant regulatory bodies across the Nordics
Anticipate and interpret regulatory and market developments related to grid access and connection procedures
Support escalations and strategic discussions with grid operators and authorities
Support strategic development and acquisitions
Partner closely with JDAs & Acquisitions teams to evaluate partner pipelines and M&A opportunities
Develop practical grid evaluation frameworks and decision criteria for project screening
Assess grid risks, opportunities, and constraints for strategic investment decisions
Guide complex grid execution
Provide guidance and decision support to Project Developers and Grid Connection Managers on complex or high-risk connection cases
Review and sign off on major connection strategies and grid offers for strategically important projects
Capture lessons learned and continuously improve internal standards, policies, and decision-making frameworks
Collaborate cross-functionally
You’ll work closely with:
Development teams on project strategy and pipeline prioritisation
Revenue and Asset Management teams on how grid conditions affect tariffs, imbalance exposure, and commercial opportunities
Engineering teams on BESS, Energy Hubs, and grid integration concepts
External stakeholders including TSOs, DSOs, regulators, and development partners
We’re looking for you
Has strong experience working with grid connections, grid strategy, power systems, or grid development within the energy sector
Understands Nordic grid markets, connection processes, congestion challenges, and regulatory environments
Has experience engaging with TSOs, DSOs, utilities, regulators, or large infrastructure stakeholders
Can combine strategic thinking with practical understanding of how projects get connected in reality
Is comfortable operating cross-functionally between Development, Revenue, Engineering, and external partners
Has strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Enjoys solving complex infrastructure and development challenges
Is fluent in English
Experience within renewable energy, utility-scale solar, BESS, or energy infrastructure projects is highly valued.

About Alight
At Alight, we’re on a mission to kick carbon off the grid by helping energy-intensive businesses switch to solar.
We develop, own, and operate onsite and offsite solar projects across Europe and sell clean energy to businesses at a low, fixed cost backed by a power purchase agreement (PPA), always independent of government funding or subsidies. By 2030, we aim to have an installed capacity of at least 5 GW, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
