Communications & PR Specialist
Are you a communications pro with a passion for media relations, storytelling, and making an impact in the renewable energy space?
Welcome to Alight - a fast-growing scale-up with a bold mission: to kick carbon off the grid by helping energy-intensive businesses save money with solar from day one.
We’re looking for a Communications & PR Specialist to elevate Alight’s voice across the Nordics and Europe. You'll shape our public presence, strengthen media relationships, and lead high-impact communications that position us at the forefront of the energy transition.
Your impact
As our Communications & PR Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping how Alight shows up in the world. You’ll join our small but mighty communications and sustainability team, working closely with leadership and across the business to drive high-impact external communications.
Whether crafting a standout press release, guiding our spokespeople, or executing a press event, your work will directly shape how Alight is perceived by the public, partners, press, policy makers, and investors.
KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead our press office: Manage incoming media inquiries, draft press releases and Q&As (in Swedish and English), and serve as a local media spokesperson.
- Build strong media relationships: Cultivate trust with key journalists in Sweden and across Europe; you’re confident pitching stories and driving coverage.
- Execute our PR strategy: Oversee our external PR agencies in Finland and the UK to ensure aligned, high-quality output.
- Plan and run events: Coordinate press events, inaugurations, and executive roundtables—from concept and invites to on-site execution.
- Coach our spokespeople: Prepare media briefs, talking points, and coaching for our leadership team.
- Collaborate externally: Work with partners, customers, and industry bodies to amplify our messaging and influence the renewable energy agenda.
- Own our external channels: Manage our LinkedIn, website, and newsroom to maximize visibility and reach
- Create compelling content: From thought leadership blogs to investor updates and visuals such as video material or reports, you’ll bring Alight’s story to life.
- Track performance: Monitor media coverage, analyze reach and sentiment, and deliver insights to internal stakeholders.
We’re looking for you
- Approximately 5 years of experience in public relations, with a background in either agency or in-house roles—experience in both is considered an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English; fluency in Finnish is a significant plus.
- Proven track record of working directly with journalists and crafting strategic messaging for senior leaders.
- Outstanding writing skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging, and accessible content.
- Confident navigating political and regulatory landscapes; experience with industry associations or public affairs is a valuable asset.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Industry experience in renewable energy is a big plus - but not required for this role
- Ability to work onsite (hybrid-remote possible) from our office in Stockholm

What's in it for you?
-
At Alight, you’ll make a real, tangible impact on a global scale by accelerating the transition to a fossil fuel-free world. Your work will be more than a job; it will be a meaningful contribution to ensuring the sustainability of our planet.
-
We’re proud to have a flat and autonomous organizational culture where everyone takes accountability for their own work. You'll have the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Europe, or you can decide to work hybrid/fully onsite at one of our offices in Stockholm, Madrid, Gothenburg, Paris or Malmö. We’ll support your home office setup, including subsidies for equipment like adjustable desks and office chairs.
-
To ensure we attract the best talent out there, we don't limit ourselves to a specific location. Alighters are based across Europe and our diverse backgrounds and skills complement each other well.
We know that having a diverse team drives better collective decisions and superior business performance. Today our gender split is 44/56, with 15 nationalities and employees in 6 countries.
-
At Alight, you’ll be a part of an entrepreneurial culture in which you’re encouraged to “think like an owner,” which means that we trust you to call the shots and excel in your role. Many Alighters are also shareholders, and we believe in giving our employees incentives to create the best possible impact.
Historically we’ve regularly had warrant/option programs that give our employees the option to own a part of Alight. We also give our employees the option to buy shares when the opportunity arises (e.g. when any of our owners sells shares, we're not a listed company).
-
As an Alighter, you’ll have 30 days of paid vacation and the option to exchange public holiday days for other days off. We also offer market-leading insurance programs for all our employees, together with an annual wellness allowance of €500 (5000 SEK).
At our HQ in Stockholm, we also have weekly activities like lunch runs and Thursday yoga sessions.
-
While we take our role in driving the green transition seriously, we know how to have fun. We believe that a positive team spirit enhances our collective impact. Some examples of planned activities are Friday breakfast every second week, Guest lecturers with dinner, team dinners, and sports activities. But there are also a lot of spontaneous activities driven by our employees!
Each quarter we also have "Alight Next," our company-wide meetup, a two-day strategy day with workshops, lectures, and team building in which we focus on the next quarter. We also always have some fun activities planned during those meetup days, examples being ski trips, sailing, dinners, and parties
-
We’re committed to helping you grow and embrace new areas of responsibility, whether vertically or horizontally.
It’s common for our team members to be promoted to leadership roles or transition into entirely new domains. We have structured career coaching, internal training programs, performance reviews, and goal-setting frameworks to help you develop your career.
