OT specialist
Help secure the energy systems powering the renewable transition.
Are you experienced in OT cybersecurity and industrial network architecture? Do you enjoy designing secure networks, solving complex technical challenges, and turning cybersecurity best practices into practical solutions?
At Alight, you’ll help protect the infrastructure behind some of the Nordics’ most ambitious solar and battery storage projects.
Join us as an OT Specialist and take an active role in shaping how we secure, standardize, and manage our growing portfolio of renewable energy assets across Europe.
About Alight
Alight is an entrepreneurial renewable energy company on a mission to decarbonize the grid by helping energy-intensive businesses transition to solar power.
Founded in 2013, we have helped shape the Nordic solar industry through some of the region’s largest solar installations, innovative financing solutions, and pioneering hybrid solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.
As a leading independent power producer (IPP) in the Nordics, we own and operate the assets that generate renewable energy. This means our operational technology (OT) systems are a critical part of the energy infrastructure we manage—and protecting them is essential to keeping our solar parks secure, reliable, and operational.
Your impact
As our OT Specialist, you’ll help build and strengthen the cybersecurity foundations of our solar parks. Working closely with our existing OT Specialist, you’ll take shared ownership of OT security across our portfolio, from improving the architecture of existing installations to designing secure networks for new projects.
This is a technically focused role with a strong emphasis on network architecture and security. You’ll work with industrial networks, firewalls, network segmentation, secure remote access, SCADA systems, and the wider OT environment, ensuring that security is built into our assets from the outset and continuously improved throughout their lifecycle.
You’ll divide your time between strategic improvements, project work, and operational support. This means collaborating with engineering and project teams on new installations while working with Asset Management to strengthen the security and resilience of existing sites.
The role is open to candidates based in Sweden, Finland, Norway, or Denmark, with flexible remote and hybrid working options. Our headquarters are in Stockholm, with a smaller office in Helsinki. The role also involves occasional travel to our project sites and solar parks across the Nordics.
You’ll help shape the next generation of OT security at Alight, with responsibilities including:
Industrial network architecture and security
Design, review, and improve network architectures for existing and new solar parks, including SCADA systems, dataloggers, and other OT components.
Implement and improve network security measures, including firewalls, network segmentation, and secure remote access.
Establish consistent security standards and network configurations across our growing portfolio of assets.
Work with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams to ensure security is integrated into new projects from the design stage.
OT cybersecurity and risk management
Identify, assess, and prioritize vulnerabilities across OT devices, software, and networks, coordinating remediation and patching activities.
Conduct OT security risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Strengthen access management by supporting centralized management of privileged access and OT credentials.
Contribute to security monitoring, incident response, and the development of practical recovery procedures for scenarios affecting site operations.
Asset management and continuous improvement
Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of OT assets, networks, software, and configurations.
Ensure OT documentation, including network diagrams, firewall rules, and security policies, is accurate and accessible.
Improve standardization across sites by developing repeatable processes, technical guidelines, and security best practices.
Collaborate with Asset Management, IT, Engineering, and external partners to balance security improvements with operational reliability.
We’re looking for you
We’re looking for someone who understands how industrial networks are built and secured, and who can translate that knowledge into robust, scalable solutions.
You may currently work in OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, SCADA infrastructure, automation, or network engineering within the energy, utilities, or industrial sectors. Whatever your background, you’re comfortable looking at an industrial network architecture, understanding how its components communicate, identifying weaknesses, and determining how to improve its security.
We believe you’ll bring:
A degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
At least 3 years of relevant experience in OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, or securing technical infrastructure within the energy, utilities, or industrial sectors.
Strong knowledge of network architecture, including the ability to interpret network diagrams and understand how firewalls, switches, and connected devices interact.
A solid understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, network segmentation, and secure remote access.
Experience designing, implementing, or securing industrial networks, ideally involving SCADA systems, dataloggers, or other OT infrastructure.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, OT security tools, and vulnerability management.
An analytical and structured approach to identifying risks, solving technical problems, and prioritizing security improvements.
The ability to communicate technical concepts and security risks clearly to colleagues and stakeholders with different levels of technical expertise.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across projects, operations, and multiple technical teams.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Extra points if you also have
Experience with renewable energy systems, such as solar PV, battery energy storage, or wind power.
Knowledge of the IEC 62443 industrial cybersecurity standards.
An understanding of electrical systems and industrial control environments.
Experience with centralized privileged access management (PAM), OT asset inventories, or configuration management databases (CMDBs).
Familiarity with command-line tools and industrial network troubleshooting.
